Resumo:
The evolution of payment methods in Brazil is marked by technological, social, and economic changes that have transformed the way people conduct transactions and interact with the financial system. This study aimed to analyze the perception of bank branch users regarding the security, efficiency, inclusion, and impacts of new payment methods for employees and consumers. The methodology used for the research development is of a mixed approach, a qualitative-quantitative method, using a questionnaire with 20 questions applied to 23 business owners and financial professionals. The results showed that the majority of respondents were consumers, followed by legal entities, who stated that the adoption of new digital payment methods offers both opportunities and challenges. The diversity of options, such as Pix, credit cards, bank slips, cash, and currently Drex, changes the way financial transactions are conducted, each with its own particularities. Pix revolutionized financial transactions by offering speed and convenience, and the introduction of Drex, or Digital Real, brings a new perspective for consumers. The promise of a secure and efficient digital currency, based on blockchain technology, provides the capability to simplify transactions and reduce costs. The identified impacts and challenges are related to security: the introduction of advanced technologies requires robust systems to protect against fraud and cyberattacks; efficiency: payment methods like Pix and Drex streamline transactions, reducing operational costs for both consumers and companies; and financial inclusion: broader access to digital accounts and ease of use promote the inclusion of previously unbanked populations, although challenges like connectivity and digital literacy still persist. In conclusion, the diversity of payment options has brought greater accessibility and convenience for consumers and businesses, however, these advances also present challenges, mainly in terms of regulation and data security.
