Brazilian youth have fought for the achievement, implementation and maintenance of historically denied and neglected social rights, especially education and employment. In the quest to contain the expressions of the social issue, including poverty, the State, as an intervener of capital, creates public and social policies to alleviate the disastrous effects that the capitalist ideal produces in society. With the precariousness of actions aimed at young people, young people in situations of poverty find it even more difficult to access quality education, health, culture, leisure, employment and income. The Pé de Meia Program appears in 2024 as an educational strategy of the federal government aimed at low-income young people regularly enrolled in public high school, in order to contain the high rate of school dropouts after the pandemic.
