Resumo:
The big obstacle for chemistry students is in the learning process that involves understanding and comprehending what cannot be seen. Chemistry is in all the student's day-to-day processes and the main objective of the teacher is to make his student observe and understand how this fascinating world works. Associating moments of practical intervention with the theoretical teaching process has normally been an alternative that contributes significantly to the development of the student. Using the process of obtaining potassium alum from aluminum recycling, as one of the steps, corrosion was used with the students in the research group an alternative way of sensing the corrosion process combined with the theoretical teaching of this same process. As a methodology, using two interventions with the researched group, a theoretical intervention showing the types, forms and applications of corrosion and a practical intervention in the laboratory, where the students were able to apply the corrosion that resulted in an evaluative instrument that in turn subsidized the results with the data collected for analysis. Using the appropriate learning proposal, it was possible to obtain an advance in the students' performance on the theoretical content presented after the moment of practical experiential. As a result, this work presents a positive growth showing the need to combine techniques with regular theoretical teaching.
