Resumo:
In Brazil, many young people and children leave school to enter the job market, for these people the priority is not education, but survival itself, as we experience the reality of a capitalist world, a market where product variation and credit facility attracts and drives consumers to buy, adding these factors to the lack of information about financial management, the situation ends up getting worse, as young people gradually become indebted, becoming an unconscious and defaulting consumer. Thus, financial education can change this scenario if it is worked on preventively, that is, when young people have their first contact with the job market, access to credits and purchasing power, as it is not just about learning to handle money teaches you to make choices, to think about the future, to plan before you buy, to know how to deal with the feeling of desire to buy and to invest in something that provides them with income. The study presents the importance of financial education in high school and its possible positive intervention in the school dropout and default rates of Brazilian citizens, being presented through a bibliographic review research.
