Our research is based largely on the reports of migrants that tell how the process of migration to the state of Roraima occurred, also highlighting the organization of the celebration, stating the goals they wish to achieve with it. We also point the process of self-assertion of the Maranhense identity that occurs with the accomplishment of events and how it can become an appropriate symbolic territorial form, through the process of reterritorialization. We look for everything in the history and tradition of Maranhão to give an overview of how these Maranhenses sought cultural and identity support for organizing the party. Therefore, our work will search, through the use of the memories of the migrants, standing out for the use of the recording memory, where the migrants make the transmission of their memories and their traditions, through this we seek to understand the process that involves this identity and how it is consolidated in the construction of the Maranhão identity in the city of Boa Vista / RR and a mark of symbolic territorialization by them. We also use these sources to understand how the culture, religion and cuisine are present at the celebration and what are the impacts and transformations that happen in the city of Boa Vista when the elements are exposed and how these migrants see themselves in the celebration. A festa “O Maranhão é Aqui!” é realizada desde 2010, no mês de junho em homenagem a São João, e tem suas características baseadas na cultura popular e na tradição maranhense. Nossa pesquisa se fundamenta em grande parte nos relatos de migrantes que contam como se deu o processo de migração para o estado de Roraima, destacando também a organização da Festa, expondo os objetivos que desejam alcançar com ela. Também apontamos o processo de autoafirmação da identidade maranhense que ocorre com a realização festa e como pode se tornar uma apropriação territorial simbólica, através do processo de (re) (des) territorialização. Buscamos compreender tudo através da história e tradição maranhense para assim fazermos um panorama de como esses maranhenses buscaram suporte cultural e identitário para a organização da festa. Por tanto, nosso trabalho buscará através do uso da memória dos migrantes, destacando para o uso da memória de recordação, onde os migrantes fazem uma transmissão de suas lembranças e de suas tradições, através disso buscamos entender o processo que envolve essa identidade maranhense, e como ela se consolida na construção de uma identidade maranhense na cidade de Boa Vista/RR e uma marcação de territorialização simbólica pelos mesmos.
