We propose in this research, analyze the place located in Rorainópolis – Nova Colina, State of Roraima, we seek to list the processes determining its genesis, economic growth, demographic, spatial and its significance in the last frontier Amazon. This place grew demographic, economic and spatial in the first decade of this century that differed from other places and cities of the rest of the state setting up a new role as a central location, despite being only a tiny nucleus at the margins of semi-rural highway BR- 174. Nova Colina is considered by the IBGE official classification as rural, even with the availability of this urban facilities, commercial activities and public services. We propose to identify it as urban space located in the Amazon last frontier settlement that leads to a redefinition for understanding the urban in Roraima. The research covers the time interval from the 1970s to the year 2012. The methodology used was the literature research on basic works, interviews and on-site observation. And as theoretical, approach the concept of place signed by Carlos (1996) and Santos (2006, 2008); urban network in the Amazon region by Corrêa (1987, 1989, 2001, 2010), Ribeiro (1997, 1998) and state context based in Amorim Filho and Diniz (2005a, 2005b), Silva and Silva (2004a, 2004b, 2005), Silva (2007), argue that the roraimense urban network has a primate and strong structure, with specifics that individualizes by having an urban macrocephaly due to the cumulative concentration in the capital and the solar way that organizes the network. The same is in the process of gestation in the regional context, showing little hierarchy and economic complementarity between the cities in Roraima. Although we rely on Becker (1994, 1988, 2006) and Machado (1999) that addresses urbanization and the labor market, since the border city in the Amazon born as part of the process of social occupation, territorial and geopolitical. |
