In this context, the concern with a healthy diet urges the growth of organic agriculture, which already represents an important market share. This dissertation has as object of research the Association of Organic Fruits and Vegetables of Boa Vista, called HORTIVIDA, instituted as Social Organization Control - OCS, in compliance with the normative parameters of organic production. The main objective of the research is analyze the socio-environmental responsibility practices of organic food production in Boa Vista-RR and the availability of expansion for family farming. To meet the objectives of this study, descriptive and field research were used, together with bibliographic research, relating socio-environmental responsibility to organic food production by family farming. Besides, for a better understanding of the studied association and the activities developed, quantitative, qualitative and analytical research method were used. Finally, the analysis of bibliographic data and field research took place using the analytical method. From the study carried out, was found that, cultivation of organic products moves the economy and brings health benefits, as they are food without any pesticides and, contribute to a healthy and quality diet, as well as the environment, by providing harmonization with the natural environment. As for socio-environmental responsibility, HORTIVIDA fulfills its role as OCS by following the normative recommendations for organic production; for its participation in the agricultural segment, the cultivation and commercialization of agroecological foods meets the local demand and the families livelihood of the associates and employees they hire; establishing a relationship of trust and respect with their consumers; for implementing environmental sustainability in productive areas based on the ecological balance inherent in the cultivation practices themselves; for promoting a healthy and quality life for members and society in general and for making organic agriculture not only a source of income, but also a lifestyle. Although public incentive policies for organic production still lacks and some barriers need to be overcome, it’s a niche with a strong possibility of development, especially in small rural properties. O uso constante e a deterioração da fonte natural da produção de alimentos afetam direta e indiretamente não só as dinâmicas sociais e de natureza econômica, mas também a saúde e o bem-estar da população. Nesse contexto, a preocupação com uma alimentação saudável acelera o crescimento da agricultura orgânica, que já representa uma fatia importante do mercado. Assim, esta dissertação tem por objeto de pesquisa a Associação dos Hortifrutigranjeiros Orgânicos de Boa Vista, denominada HORTIVIDA, instituída como Organização Controle Social – OCS, em atendimento aos parâmetros normativos de produção orgânica. Constitui o objetivo geral da pesquisa analisar as práticas de responsabilidade socioambiental da produção de alimentos orgânicos na cidade de Boa Vista-RR e a viabilidade de expansão para a agricultura familiar. Para atender aos objetivos deste estudo, utilizou-se a pesquisa descritiva e de campo, aliada à pesquisa bibliográfica, relacionando a responsabilidade socioambiental com a produção de alimentos orgânicos pela agricultura familiar. Ademais, para um melhor entendimento da associação estudada e das atividades desenvolvidas, utilizou-se o método de pesquisa quantitativo, qualitativo e analítico. Por fim, a análise dos dados bibliográficos e da pesquisa de campo se deu com a utilização do método analítico. A partir do estudo realizado, constatou-se que o cultivo de produtos orgânicos movimenta a economia e traz benefícios à saúde, por serem alimentos sem agrotóxicos e que, portanto, contribuem para uma alimentação saudável e de qualidade, bem como ao meio ambiente, por proporcionar a harmonização com o meio natural. Quanto a responsabilidade socioambiental, a HORTIVIDA cumpre seu papel de OCS ao seguir as recomendações normativas para a produção orgânica; pela participação no segmento agrícola, o cultivo e comercialização dos alimentos agroecológicos atendem à demanda local e o sustento das famílias dos associados e colaboradores por eles contratados; ao estabelecer relação de confiança e respeito com os consumidores; por implementar a sustentabilidade ambiental nas áreas produtivas a partir do equilíbrio ecológico inerente as próprias práticas de cultivo; pela promoção da saúde e qualidade de vida aos associados e a sociedade em geral e, por fazer da agricultura orgânica não apenas uma fonte de renda, mas um estilo de vida. Embora ainda faltem políticas públicas de incentivo para a produção orgânica e algumas barreiras precisem ser superadas, trata-se de um nicho com forte possibilidade de desenvolvimento, principalmente nas pequenas propriedades rurais.
