This is due to the pollution of rivers, arising from agricultural production, mineral extraction, oil spills, sewage, among others. Throughout the history of the occupation of territories, mankind has chosen riverbanks to establish itself. In this sense, environmental perception is the way each individual perceives or sees the environment around him, so that from this he becomes aware of his relationship with the environment, especially with natural resources such as water, which in the municipality of Alto Alegre, RR is captured from the Mucajaí River. Thus, this research aimed to analyze the perceptions of the residents of the municipality of Alto Alegre-RR about the quality of the water they consume. The research is of the case study and exploratory qualitative-quantitative nature, with primary and secondary data collection and literature review. Primary data collection involved site visits and interviews. The research included residents of Alto Alegre-RR, CAER employees and mineral water distributors, totaling 35 participants who represent 0.67% of the population of the urban area of Alto Alegre, RR. The results revealed that the municipality has suffered from water supply problems due to the difficulties faced by the Water and Sewage Company of Roraima (CAER), the lack of energy was also one of the problems detected. The employees of the company responsible for the water supply in the city consider that the water distributed to the population is of excellent quality and fit for human consumption, although the residents report that the water that reaches their homes presents color, odor and taste. Therefore, it is necessary to adopt measures to improve the quality of the water that supplies the city, such as periodic physical-chemical and microbiological analyses in order to avoid contamination and waterborne diseases to the residents who consume it. A qualidade da água dos rios está cada vez mais inadequada para o consumo humano, necessitando de tratamento prévio aos múltiplos usos. Isso se dá, devido à poluição dos rios, advinda das produções agrícolas, extração de minérios, vazamentos de óleo, esgoto, dentre outros. A humanidade ao longo da história da ocupação dos territórios escolheu as margens de rios para se estabelecer. Nesse sentido, percepção ambiental é a forma como cada indivíduo percebe ou enxerga o ambiente ao seu redor, para que a partir disso se sensibilize da sua relação com o ambiente, principalmente com os recursos naturais, como a água, que no município de Alto Alegre, RR que é captada do rio Mucajaí. Assim, esta pesquisa teve como objetivo analisar as percepções dos moradores do município de Alto Alegre-RR sobre a qualidade da água que consomem. A pesquisa é do tipo estudo de caso e exploratória de cunho qualitativa-quantitativa, com coleta de dados primários e secundários-revisão de literatura. A coleta de dados primários envolveu visitas in loco e entrevistas. Participaram da pesquisa moradores da cidade de Alto Alegre-RR, funcionários da CAER e empresários de distribuidoras de venda de água mineral, totalizando 35 participantes que representam 0,67% da população da área urbana de Alto Alegre, RR. Os resultados revelaram que o município tem sofrido com problemas no abastecimento de água devido às dificuldades enfrentadas pela Companhia de Água e Esgoto de Roraima (CAER), a falta de energia também foi um dos problemas detectados. Os funcionários da empresa responsável pelo abastecimento de água na cidade consideram que a água distribuída à população é de ótima qualidade e própria para o consumo humano, apesar dos moradores relatarem que a água que chega em suas residências apresenta cor, odor e sabor. Portanto, é necessária a adoção de medidas que visem a melhoria da qualidade da água que abastece o município, como análises físico-químicas e microbiológicas periódicas a fim de evitar a contaminação e doenças de veiculação hídrica aos moradores que a consomem.
