Resumo:
Despite the large number of bone changes for cetaceans, there are few records about Inia spp. genre. When evaluating skull bone changes several osteological changes were observed in 63.8% of the total sample analyzed. Among the morphological changes we observed the presence of the third condyle; deviation of the rostrum; prognatism and bragnatism. Traumatic changes were also observed. Pathological changes, although less frequent, were also observed, cases of osteomyelitis; osteolysis; bone degeneration in the mandibular condyle; osteoarthritis; osteoarthroses and hyperostosis were observed. When examining teeth, there was a variation of 22 to 35 teeth per branch. The heterodontia was observed, having 2 types of teeth: cone type and molariform type. Were found fractured teeth and teeth with dental wear. Dentres dental pathological changes were found dental calculus (DC), similar caries lesions (SCL) and dental corrosion. Among the development changes were found ossification of the alveoli, pearl enamel, double root, pairs of adjacent teeth and supernumerary teeth. In assessing the relationship between the deviation of the rostrum and medium tooth wear, by the geometric morphometric three-dimensional, where after the analysis performed, there was no statistically significant relationship between the two factors, demonstrating that the diversion of the rostrum and the average wear of the teeth Inia spp. gender show a weak relationship in this study.
