It was studied a parasitic metazoan fauna of Potamorhina altamazonica, Potamorhina
latior and P. pristigaster from the floodplain lakes of the Solimões River. On a stretch
of more than 400 km from Lake Catalão near Manaus, to Coari. Were collected and
examined 142 specimens of P. altamazonica, 132 of P. latior and 69 of P. pristigaster.
In the fish were collected and determined until smaller possible taxon 10,267 specimens
included in 14 species of 4 different taxonomic groups. Five species of Monogenoidea:
Rhinoxenus sp. n., New genus A sp. n. 1, New genus A sp. n. 2, New genus A sp. n. 3,
New genus A sp. n. 3 and Urocleidoides sp. n.. Four of Digenea: Austrodiplostomum
compactum, Clinostomum marginatum, Sphincterodiplostomum musculosum
e Tylodelphys sp. Three of Copepoda: Amplexybranchius bryconis, Ergasilus jaraquensis,
Miracetyma etimaruya. Two of Branchiura: Argulus chicomendesi and Argulus sp. The
descriptions of the individuals are presented along with the morphometric measurements,
photomicrographs and illustrations. All collected monogenoids are new records, all the
species found were gill parasites, except Rhinoxenus sp. n., which was collected in the
nostrils. All digeneans were in the metacercaria stage, and parasited the swimming
bladder (Tylodelpys sp.), eyes (A. compactum, C. marginatum and S. musculosum),
mouth, musculature and visceral cavity (C. marginatum). Potamorhina latior presented
the highest parasite richness with 13 species, followed by P. pristigaster with 10 and in
P. altamazonica 8. |
