Despite the wide distribution of Leptohyphidae in Brazil the number of known
species in the family is still incipient. Specially in the North region, little is known
about this family, being only six species recorded there: Amanahyphes saguassu
Salles & Molineri, 2006 (AM), Leptohyphes populus Allen, 1973 (AM),
Macunahyphes australis Dias, Salles & Molineri, 2005 (PA, RR), Tricorythodes
rondoniensis Dias, Cruz & Ferreira, 2008 (AM, RR), Tricorytopsis bahiensis Dias,
Salles & Ferreira, 2008 (AM, RR) and Tricorythopsis yucupe Dias, Salles & Ferreira,
2008 (AM, RR). With the objective to contribute with the knowledge on
Leptohyphidae in the North region, particularly the Amazon state, specimens from
two municipalities were analyzed: Manaus (Adolpho Ducke Forest Reserve) and
Presidente Figueiredo. Three new species were described, two in the genus
Tricorythopsis Traver and one in Tricorythodes Ulmer and, a key to identify genera
and species known from the North region is presented. Tricorythodes ocellus Allen
and Roback, 1969 is recorded for the first time in Brazil. With these results, the
number of known species in the Leptohyphidae family in North region of Brazil
increase from six to 10. |
