The araçá-pera (Psidium acutangulum D.C.) is a wild or cultivated fruit species of Amazonia. Its fruits are acid but flavorful, normally consumed as a juice. This paper discusses its development and phenology, using 7 randomly chosen plante that received no fertilizer and 7 that received 25 kg/ha N, 50 kg/ha P205and 50 kg/ha K20, on a medium texture, yellow oxisol, 60 km north of Manaus, Brazil. Growth rates slowed after 3 years in the field in both treatments, although the fertilized plants were much larger. Flowering occurs year round, with least emission from January to march. Fruiting is concentrated from octuber to december. fertilization increased flowering and fruiting. Bees are the most frequent insect visitors on the flowers |
