Of these 447 study subjects. 36,69% were primipara, 61,74% were between the ages 17 to 24 and 17,44% were in their fifth month of pregnancy. É estudada a incidência da sífilis em gestantes, na cidade de Manaus. Das pacientes que deram entrada, pela primeira vez, no serviço de Prenatal da Maternidade Escola "Ana Nery", durante o ano de 1975, 447 delas foram escolhidas ao acaso para fazerem parte do trabalho. Foram realizados três testes sorológicos, a sabera) Venereal Diseases Research Laboratory (VDRL); b) Fixação do Complemento (Wassermann), e c) Imunofluorescência Indireta. 10,06% dos soros foram reagentes, pelo menos a um dos testes realizados.
