This work was carried out to evaluate the productivity and sawing quality of five tropical
wood species using a portable sawmill. The study was carried out at Cristo Rei do Uatumã Rural Settlement located at Presidente Figueiredo Municipality, Amazonas State, Brazil (2° 02' 54,79" S e 60° 01' 39,63" W). It was used 10 logs for species for collecting data regarding the parameters defined in this work. The average productivity for the studied species ranged from 38,53 % up to 50,81 %. The maximum and the average diameter had direct influence on productivity. Basic density, even when individually considered. It had not influenced on the productivity. Among the studied species, Lecythis paraensis Hube and Qualea homosepalct Ducke logs presented the higher productivity. It was created a parameter to value the wood quality, natural quality and the precision performance of the wood dimensions peaces. The specie Qualea homosepala Ducke presented almost 80% of first quality wood peaces. Exception Scleronema micranthum Ducke, ali of others species showed productivity inside was historie said (45% up 55%) for Amazon species and a good percentage of fírst quality wood, what it was responsible by grow up of logging benefits. |
