The production organization of social base of communities in the southern Brazilian Amazon region began in the 1990s, at time that social and economic reality of a significant portion of the population was of extreme poverty. People lived under the figures of the patrões and coroneis de barranco, people with local political power and influence, who claimed to be tenants of land, owners of the Brazil nuts and rubber. Therefore, the possibility of regulation of society by the ideal of solidarity economy, meant to recognize a possibility to support the ways of have to pattern life of individuals in society/community, not centered in the spheres of political power and the market. Today, the free agro-extractive production in this part of the Amazon have to face management in production scale; small number of cooperatives; intense presence of imported products; low value-added production; no conformity or price lists; producers with technical training deficit and have a need a greater investment in the sector. These variables were restricted the process of growth and development of local communities that demand new market alternatives to their realities. In terms of production of Brazil nuts, its relative share as a product of the economy and the mining supply chain of non- timber in the Amazon is enhanced during the harvest and on behalf of several officials dependent of the its subsistence production. This paper analyzes the market dynamics of the Brazil-Brazil in the Brazilian Amazon with the estimation of the function of supply and demand function, considering the limits. The results show that the demand lacks studies with further elaboration, since the chestnut production is in contradiction to market logic, where
producer cannot guarantee that for every demand there is a corresponding offer. On the supply side, we identified the inelasticity to price. This offering of stiffness in the extraction process of natural forests could be eased by the cultivation of the species; however, Brazil nuts plantations in the Brazilian Amazon not show yet economical and market efficiency in the case of plantations for the production of almonds. Agricultural production is allied to the extraction of nut to structure productive economic system in southern Brazilian Amazon.
Families and communities in the region live in different conditions of survival and infrastructure. Socioeconomic diagnosis obtained in this study can be related directly to the
historical model of landlordism and monoculture still entrenched in this region of Brazil,
where regional differences are mainly of income, level of education and human and social
development. |
