The objective of this study was to evaluate the growth, production of morphological
components, total yield, foliar macronutrients content and yield in forage sorghum grown on
gliricidia and leucena alleys under the effect of fertilization in two agricultural years. The
experiments were conducted during the double crop 2016/2017 and 2017/2018 crop in a
randomized block design in a 3x2 factorial arrangement, with five replications. The first factor
was: cultivation system (single sorghum, sorghum cultivated in gliricidia alleys, sorghum
cultivated in leucena alleys) and the second factor: mineral fertilization (presence of mineral
fertilization, absence of mineral fertilization). The legumes were pruned in each crop cycle
(double crop and crop) and the residues were deposited in each plot that contained the alleys,
and 30 days after the sorghum was sown. In the treatments that received mineral fertilization
the dose was recommended following the requirement of the crop and nutrient levels in the soil.
In the absence of mineral fertilization, the growth of sorghum in the double crop was higher in
the leucena alleys when compared to the single crop, and this increase approached 70%.
Cultures in alleys when without mineral fertilization were efficient in increasing total green and
dry mass compared to single crop. Regardless of the mineral fertilization in the crop, the
cultivation in leucena alleys showed a higher leaf content of N than the single crop. The K leaf
content of the legume alleys had positive changes when compared to the single crop. The
sorghum in leucena alleys surpassed the yield of single sorghum in the double crop without
fertilization 67% and compared to the single crop with the presence of mineral fertilization.
Alley crops increased the most important variables for the production and productivity of forage
sorghum. Even with the presence of mineral fertilization the legumes showed an impact on the
results when related to the cultivation of single sorghum. |
