Resumo:
The interaction between Akwẽ-Xerente people and digital social networks is discussed in this work. It analyzes the appropriation of communication and information technologies by this indigenous population, especially in the tribes Salto and Porteira, as well as the cultural and social consequences of this process. The research used the methods of ethnography and branching, known as digital ethnography or netnography, which allowed the deepening around the socio-cultural historicity and technologies in the Xerente Indigenous area. In addition, it is understandable that the Akwẽ, being in the "cyberspace", especially on Facebook, are facing the "indigenization of modernity", in which they resignify their traditions with the presence of the digital universe, parallel to the maintenance of their own cultural elements, as the Dasĩpe. Thus, indigenous cyber-activism is present, to the point where they emphasize the empowerment of Akwẽ-Xerente. Therefore, the Xerente are also digital, here named Akwẽ-Xerente, and also prove that there is no substitution of pluricultural traits for technologies, on the contrary, there is a clear process of complementation in which culture is enhanced by digital social networks
