Resumo:
The present work aims to produce reflections, from a mathematical perspective, about the air conditioners of Educandário Espirita Francisco Thiesen, elementary school of the city of Araguaína in the state of Tocantins. The guiding question of this research was: What are the mathematical knowledge intertwined with the air conditioners of Spiritist Educandário Francisco Thiesen? The study was produced under aspects of the qualitative approach, using the Mathematical Modeling as a method to structure the analysis of this course conclusion work. The “path” built by the above procedure pointed to six categories which, in the analysis, were called Themes: “The purchase of an air conditioner”; “The corresponding air conditioner for a classroom”; “The water produced by a 9000 btus air conditioner”; “The flow of water generated by air conditioners”; “Water Saving” and “Air Conditioner Power Consumption”. These themes / categories converged to the realization that all air conditioners in the school are inadequate to the spaces that must cool, which requires the appliances to work at their maximum capacity. This causes the school to have an increase in the electricity bill. It has also been found that water produced by air conditioners can help save on the value of the school unit's water bill if it is stored.
