Resumo:
The growth of municipal solid waste generation at a rate higher than population growth in large urban centers causes thousands of tons of waste are dumped daily in landfills or in landfills, shortening its useful life, which raises discussions about management and importance in intended such waste properly. The law 11,445/2007 of Sanitation and the Brazilian solid waste Policy requires the preparation of waste management plans to the holders of the sanitation services and conditions to obtain resources with the federal financial institutions.On the context, this work intends to address aspects of the PMGIRS Municipal solid waste Plan Araguaína, through a bibliographical research and an interview with municipal and business manager. The data presented and discussed allowed acquainted with actual situation of the Municipal Plan of Integrated Solid Waste Management, developed for the municipality of Araguaína, Tocantins State. It was based on the survey of technical, administrative and legal aspects, which has as main objective socioeconomic establish a planning of solid waste management, so as to comply with the principles of the Brazilian solid waste Policy (PNRS) and build the County's policy for the management of solid waste. It was found that there was an improvement in sewage collection network in Araguaína between 2012 and 2016, and that 95% of the Araguaína’s population will be benefitted until 2017.
