Resumo:
The urban planning of Palmas - TO recommends that the residential blocks be endowed with green areas and squares, but in practice, the Diagnosis of Urban Arborization of Palmas, demonstrated that there are numerous places where afforestation is insufficient or has been implemented inappropriately. The objective of this study was to analyze the afforestation of the squares in the urbanized blocks of the Palmas Urban Master Plan - TO, for that, a survey and classification of the squares was made in: deforested; not deforested with landscaping and not deforested without landscaping. The scientific, popular name and origin of the trees were collected in the afforestation diagnostic inventory. In the squares studied, a total of 2,262 tree individuals were found, totaling 181 species and 73 families. The square with the greatest wealth (S) was in the deforested category with 75 species, however, squares with and without landscaping have a higher frequency of native species, while in deforested areas there is a predominance of exotic species. The squares not deforested with landscaping showed greater diversity (H '= 3.24), however, those not deforested with and without landscaping were the most similar (J = 0.418). The square with the highest tree coverage index - CA was 208 Norte, with 96.08. In general, all squares are fulfilling their social and environmental role, either partially or integrally, so the study demonstrates the importance of planning the afforestation of public squares, contributing to the improvement of the socioenvironmental aspects of the urban environment, reducing the impacts to population and the environment.
