This research aimed to establish the relationships that are established between chemical
dependency, social vulnerability and incarceration, having as its locus the Guaraí Provisional
Prison House (CPP / Guaraí), located in the interior of the state of Tocantins, 170 kilometers
from the capital Palmas. Taking into account that the Guaraí CPP’s currently has a high rate of
overcrowding, the research argues that a considerable portion of the imprisonment in the
municipality of Guaraí occurs due to the practice of crimes resulting from the need to finance
drug use, as well as, that such people come from a life path marked by social vulnerability.
Methodologically, in this dissertation, it was used the research of quanti-qualitative type and
interviews directed to the actors that act in the system of penal execution of the county of
Guaraí. In this sense, it was possible to understand the perspective of the actors interviewed,
regarding the influence of chemical dependency and social vulnerability on crime, and the
consequent imprisonment in the lócus. In addition, from the data collected, it was possible to
highlight the lack of execution of public policies on drugs in the municipality of Guaraí, as well
as, to understand the daily life experienced by prisoners reeducating under the Law of Criminal
Execution (Law Number 7.210, July 11, 1984). |
