The classification of bodies of water aims classify and monitor the quality of the water body, becoming a tool that shows the conditions of water resources and enables the determination of its needs and capabilities. The research had as general objective to draw up a proposal for a reference classification for the quality of the water bodies into class according to the uses of water resources for the predominant, the catchment area of Ribeirão Taquaruçu, in Palmas - Tocantins, using mathematical models as a tool for the management of these resources. For this reason were evaluated 16 selected points in the drainage network, for analyzes of physical-chemical parameters of the water front to the quality patterns established By CONAMA Resolution No. 357/05. Before the important role that the basin of Ribeirão Taquaruçu represents for the municipality, the present study showed the procedures for drawing up a proposal for the current qualitative classification of the water bodies into class according to the uses of water resources predominant mentioned basin. Mathematical models were used MGB-IPH and SAD-IPH, where respectively obtained-If flows and the modeling of the quality parameters DBO, OD, total phosphorus, series of nitrogen and thermotolerant coliforms. This way, it was obtained the current scenario (or river that we have) of water quality and their respective class of classification, showing that although the basin is in an urbanized area presented favorable conditions to the classification in class 1 and 2. Then trend scenario was tendential (or river that we have) and conservationist (or river we want) study based on uses and occupation of the soil. Where the trend scenario tendential that without the deployment of policies for the management of water resources in the basin sit in class 2 and 3. While in conservationist scenario with the application of policies framed in special class and classes 1 and 2. Thus the decision by means of mathematical modeling tools with the objective of the classification of the water bodies courses is possible and satisfactory.
