Resumo:
The dissertation presented is part of the line of research Teaching in Health, of the Graduate Program in Teaching in Science and Health - PPGECS (UFT) and we aimed to “understand what the contributions of leisure-time physical activity in promoting physical health of Health Professionals at Miracema do Tocantins Basic Health Units ”. For this purpose, 3 articles were built, the first being a bibliographic review with the title "Physical activity in leisure in health promotion". In this article, we present an approach on leisure-time physical activity and its contributions to health promotion. The second article, “Physical activity in leisure in the promotion of physical well-being”, had as methodological procedure a research of bibliographic design. In this article, we discuss physical activity in leisure in promoting physical well-being, seeking to highlight the historical and conceptual aspects of physical activity, aiming to understand quality of life as an eminently human notion. The third article entitled "physical activity in leisure: an analysis about the health promotion of the professionals of the UBS of Miracema do Tocantins" was carried out from an exploratory and descriptive study, in a qualitative approach. We aimed to list the leisure-time physical activities that can be performed in order to improve the health of the subjects surveyed. Following, we present an extension project in Leisure for the health professionals of the UBS surveyed. Finally, it is emphasized that health professionals understand that any and all physical activity during leisure brings benefits to physical and mental health, for them the regular practice of physical exercises is a primary, attractive and effective preventive strategy to maintain and improve the state of physical and mental health at any age, having direct and indirect effects and benefits to prevent and delay the subject's functional losses, reducing the risk of frequent illnesses and disorders, however these professionals have little leisure time and have low
