This work is the result of a bibliographic research based on ideas central to the work of Celestin Freinet. Interest in the theme arose during an internship in Early Childhood Education, when impasses in pedagogical practices instigated the deepening of the theme. The importance of planning appropriate activities, material adjusted to the age group, the setting of the classroom and school spaces was
demonstrated in our experience with children. Aware that a good part of these issues have been discussed more frequently in the academic environment, we have assumed the space and the environment as the object of our studies and reflections because we understand that little attention has been paid to these issues. Our theoretical research has shown that there is a Freinetian tradition of valuing the importance of space/environment in child development based on a child's multiple potentials especially for his scientific, critical and creative thinking, cooperation, communication, responsibility, citizenship and work. |
