Coronavirus (COVID-19), identified in China at the end of 2019, has a high potential for
contagion, and its incidence has increased exponentially. Its wide transmission was recognized
by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a pandemic on March 11, 2020. The coronavirus
pandemic has crossed the entire social fabric, sparing virtually no area of collective or
individual life, with peculiar repercussions for mental health. The work sought to investigate:
What are the actions of the city of Palmas to confront COVID 19 in the period between March
2020 and March 2021. As a methodology in carrying out the work, an integrative literature
review was performed, which enabled the identification, synthesis and performance of an
analysis in the literature on the specific theme, dialoguing, quantitatively and documentally
with the reality of the pandemic. A questionnaire was applied to professionals from the UPA
(Emergency Care Unit) SOUTH and NORTH, SAMU (Mobile Emergency Care Service) and
the CSC (Community Health Center) in the city of Palmas - Tocantins in order to identify the
perception of employees regarding the actions of the city of Palmas to confront Covid-19. As a
final product of this research was developed a mental health protocol, which will be applied to
front-line professionals in combating the pandemic Covid-19, in order to identify the potential
impacts on their mental health. Since there is a high prevalence of anxiety, stress and possible
cases of depression among professionals from the city of Palmas, who treat patients with Covid 19, it is essential that the responsible agencies invest in public policies to promote the well being of the mental health of these professionals who are working on the front lines.
Furthermore, for a better understanding of the psychological and psychiatric repercussions of a
pandemic, it is necessary to take into account the main implications and emotions involved
before, during and after the event. |
