Resumo:
The study entitled "The role of the social worker in the socio-educational measure of hospitalization in the light of the ethical political project of social work" aimed to reflect on the articulation of the dimensions that involve the professional practice of the Social Worker and the difficult task of materializing the Ethical Political Project of the profession (PEPSS) amid the revitalization of conservatism, and its impact on the responses given to the demands of the working class regarding the socio-educational care of hospitalization. In general terms, it was within the context of broad social inequalities and here specifically in the area of activity that Social Workers are called to work in institutions that serve teenagers typified as perpetrators of infractions that we seek to reflect. On the one hand, there is the PEPSS to be followed and which is committed to the realization of human rights, expansion of citizenship and democratic values; on the other, there is an ongoing corporate project that legitimizes punishment at the expense of social protection. In this contradictory space, the profession has been historically placed as a major challenge for the implementation of the documents that govern Social Work, especially an ethics based on human emancipation. The research was developed from the bibliographical research and the analysis of legal documents such as: Statute of Children and Adolescents (ECA) and National Social-Educational Service System (SINASE), and also the Code of Ethics of (a) Social Worker. The study resulted in the understanding that to break with a punitive action of the socioeducational measure of detention, it is necessary that the professional act in accordance with the Ethical Political Project of the profession, in order to combat any advance in conservatism made possible by the neoliberal State and that insists on returning to Social Service, to direct its actions in the struggle for the expansion and consolidation of citizenship.
