This study aims to analyze elements about the nursing image in the media
surrounding Tocantins. To reach a result, three highly visible online communication
vehicles at state level were analyzed, namely Jornal do Tocantins, T1 Notícias and
Cleber Toledo. It is an exploratory and documentary research, guided by the
investigation process of a recent historical past. As a method, the quantitative and
qualitative method was used, since a survey of subject-matters was carried out for
later interpretation. The research was done by searching some keywords as
"nursing" and "nurse" in the referred journalistic sites from October 2018 to
September 2019, totaling 12 months of analysis and 241 related reports. From the
results found it was possible to conclude that the image of nursing in the Tocantins
press is neutral and that the largest number of news reports fit as “service
journalism”, that is, mostly information about employment, college entrance exams,
job applications and internships.
