The present study aims to evaluate the production of Social Technology at the University of
Maturity for the elderly in Tocantins with a time frame from 2016 to 2020. The research is
descriptive and documentary. We used ITS indicators to identify and characterize TS,
transforming the qualitative aspects into quantitative values, to give weight to the questions,
to each of the formulas, which produced the quantitative values for the 12 characteristics of
the Social Technology to be radiographed and with these values we elaborate the graphics.
The research was carried out in three phases. The first one concerns the document
systematization of the projects developed at UMA/UFT between the years 2016-2020, in
order to obtain the following information: entity promoting social technology, objective and
type of social technology, description and functioning. The second phase is related to the use
of the protocol proposed by the Institute of Social Technology to analyze the scores of the
projects developed at UMA/UFT. This used is the Social Technologies Monitoring System
(SATECS), whose objective is to develop a methodology for the diagnosis and analysis of
ST. The third phase, which is related to one of the products, will be the preparation of a
Report on the UMA website with a presentation of good practices in Educational Social
Technology for seniors. In the research, one of the main characteristics of this social
technology was highlighted: the reconciliation of popular and academic knowledge. It arises
from the encounter between the experience of people who experience problems on a daily
basis and the knowledge of professionals, obtained from systematic studies and research in
the academic environment. It was verified, in the research, that universities, in general, can
be important tools of social technologies. It is also highlighted, through SATECS, theoretical
and bibliographical research on social technologies and empirical investigation on innovative
experiences in university extension in the essential dimensions of various social
technologies. The data presented, with a time frame from 2016 to 2020, demonstrate that
UMA was able to achieve the concept of “good” in all dimensions, according to the indicators
and prove that it develops Social and Educational Technology. The notorious reach was due
to the improvement in planning and monitoring of the actions and projects developed. The
product of this study will be the elaboration of a Report on the UMA website with a
presentation of good practices in Educational Social Technology for the elderly, aiming to act
as a resource for the improvement of Education for the Elderly in the State of Tocantins. |
