Resumo:
This research presents the situation of the enrollment in the geography college courses in Brazil in 2010 and 2019. It were surveyed the microdata of the Higher Education Census, which were systematized in a Geographical Information System through PostGreSQL, QGIS and Excel softwares. The interpretation was made through quantitative description and comparative analysis by federation unit. Most geography college courses are in public educational institutions, and private institutions are concentrated in the Southeast region of the country. From 2010 to 2019 there was an expansion of geography courses, responding to the demand that there was in many parts of Brazil, especially in the Amazon region. The relationship between the number of inhabitants and the regular students increased in almost all country in both degrees (licenciate and bachelor), while the rates of dismissed students increased only in bachelor's degree. Thus, this research can help institutions and managers to elaborate public policies related to the development of geography college courses in Brazil.
