The increase in grain production is especially focused on soybean and maize crops, and soybeans have the largest number of plantations in the region, due to their economic value, these crops can further impact the state economy. It is understood that the temporary crops of corn and soybean production have relevance of the MATOPIBA economy to the state. O estudo procura analisar a importância da agricultura temporária do MATOPIBA no qual fazem parte os estados do Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí e Bahia para o desenvolvimento econômico, a qual tem atraído interesses nacionais e internacionais, dessa forma torna-se fundamental conhecer os municípios do Estado do Maranhão que estão localizados no MATOPIBA e suas característica agrícolas e entender a dinâmica econômica do Maranhão, assim podendo ter uma análise de como esses municípios irão impactar na economia. O aumento da produção de grãos é focado especialmente nas culturas de soja e milho, sendo que a soja tem o maior número de plantações da região. Devido ao seu valor econômico, essas lavouras podem impactar mais ainda na economia do estado.
