The neo-fascist government installed in Brazil since the inauguration of the current President
of the Republic, Jair Messias Bolsonaro, in 2019 brings a scenario of destruction of social
policies and social rights. The present work sought to analyze how the protection policies for
women victims of violence are being deconstructed and, in parallel, an increase in the rates of
violence against women in the context of a pandemic caused by the new coronavirus. The
arrival of Bolsonaro to power and the impacts generated in his first year in office in relation to
the expansion and setbacks in public policies to protect women in situations of violence are
addressed, with Law 11.349/2006 (Law Maria da Penha) as a reference, the analysis of the
inaugural speech of the Minister for Women, Family and Human Rights, Damares Alves,
gender discussions and the need for effective policies to fight the pandemic and violence against
women. |
