The following work has as its subject of study the use of the didactic textbook during the
pedagogical residency of English Language at Escola Vila Nova in Araguaína. We aim to
highlight the contributions of the pedagogical residency, especially with regard to the analysis
of the use of the didactic textbooks in the teaching of English, in a class of the sixth year of
elementary school II. This research is characterized as a case study with a qualitative
approach, inserted in the field of Applied Linguistics. To obtain the data, we performed an
analysis based on reports produced in partial and final reports, a participant observation and
an analysis of the speech of two English Language teachers from the school studied, through
the application of a questionnaire. As a result, we conclude that the use of the didactic
textbook can bring advantages to the teaching and learning process of English Language, as
long as it is used in a conscious way, activating critical thinking, making adaptations to its
context, seeking the student's interest for the classes, and choosing what to use and not to use.
We also realized that the Pedagogical Residency Program had great relevance, as it was
evidenced contributions on how to plan classes with the use of the didactic textbook, warning
about the conscious use of the material and the possibility of its non-linear use. |
