Resumo:
Students choose Letters Course regardless of their choices, Portuguese Language and its respective Literatures or English Language and its respective Literatures, go through curricular grades corresponding to literatures and their correlated subjects. During the study of these disciplines, certain literary works can make this student who is a reader, feel identified and close to the ‘reality’ lived by the characters. This fiction tells several stories that trigger states, emotions that integrate for the development of otherness is crucial to achieve the humanization process promoted by Candido. In this way, this work analyzes the reports of five academics, our collaborators, from the seventh period of the English Letters course in order to understand the modus operandi of this humanization that presents some traces of their childhood, adolescence until the course path contemplating the literacy disciplines taken at undergraduate degree, as well as, discussing the effects that these readings had on their lives. Therefore, the research is based on a qualitative with a bibliographic aspect. We used the methodology of Oral History developed by Paul Thompson (1992) to produce, through interviews, the narratives of the collaborators' histories. In the theoretical contribution we move the concepts of literary criticism by Antonio Candido (2011), whose author defends the theory of the constitution of the Humanization process by and through Literature, appear in the dialogue Todorov (2009), Barthes (1987) and Compagnon (2009). In our view according to the analyzes carried out, through the narratives, we observed that certain literary readings composed changes in their personal judgments, in the ways of evaluating oppressive situations which involve the contexts of genres and some religious meaning. Our collaborators claimed that their experiences with literature encouraged the expansion of their reflections, thus contributing to exercise more their humanized attitudes.
