Resumo:
The present work entitled “Women incarcerated: an analysis of social protection in the Brazilian prison system” aims to understand the conditions of (un)social protection of women in deprivation of liberty in Brazil based on the literature and data released by the competent authorities that address the proposed topic. The methodology used was quantitative research, evaluated as the most suitable for carrying out this research, which used the literature review, that is, through the following sources: books, articles, theses, interviews, etc. Throughout history, it is observed that men and women are not treated equally in society, marks of patriarchal colonialism, even when women occupy positions in the labor market, which they say are male, are targets of harassment because they are women and are still overloaded with longer working hours, in addition to domestic tasks, which are traditionally assigned to women since antiquity. Young and adult black women, LGBTQIA+, occupy tertiary jobs that sometimes guarantee only the minimum living conditions, causing the search for alternative means of earning income, for example, self-employed jobs such as manicure/pedicure, hairdresser, going to the extreme activities such as prostitution and drug trafficking. Despite great achievements, we still live in a society driven by patriarchy and some prejudices about women, despite the fact that now there are independent women who are no longer subject to the impositions of their partners, they have self-love, the desire to grow in life, make decisions for themselves, have freedom and the right of expression and as a citizen they know what they want. Among the countries that most imprison women in the world, Brazil occupies the 4th position, behind only the United States, China and Russia. The female prison population is notoriously marked by convictions for drug crimes, a category composed of drug trafficking and association for trafficking. It is a fundamental right of all citizens to have access to health, education and assistance, but the health of women in the prison system has been little addressed, it is neglect, on paper everything is beautiful, but in practice it is not the reality of what is written.
