This study aims to identify the role of the Social Office for former inmates of the prison system. To carry out this research, we have as theoretical support Goffman (1981), Max and Engels (1985), Foucault (1987), Baratta (2002) and others, who bring in the core of their discussions, criticisms of the Prison System and how it was constituted. We carried out our research at the Social Office of Parintins - ESPIN, as a methodological approach, we used qualitative research, historical-dialectical method and field research carried out with (03) three ESPIN users and 05 (five) technicians, professionals who provide services in the facility, all of whom received fictitious names to preserve their real identities. The techniques for data collection consisted of semi-structured interviews with guiding questions, directed to the users. The motivation for conducting this research began with the student's inclusion in the Supervised Internship in Social Work and its relevance is anchored in the need to give visibility to the work developed at ESPIN, since this is little evidenced in our city, both by society and by the government.
The research revealed that ESPIN is understood as an encouraging and supportive organization of great relevance in the lives of users, providing access to multidisciplinary work, with a qualified technical team, which develops humanized work for former inmates of the Parintins prison system. The profile of users is characterized by individuals who seek opportunities for possible life changes in the institution, due to the feasibility of access to the rights of former inmates of the prison system, which contributes positively to the lives of users and their families. However, ESPIN faces difficulties in consolidating itself as a Public Policy. |
