The present study aims at the multidimensional description of the uses, in Tocantins, of lexical
items belonging to the semantic field of food and cooking, according to data collected by the
research carried out by Greize Silva between 2015 and 2018 and which gave rise to the Atlas
Linguístico Topodinâmico e Topoestático do Tocantins – ALiTTETO (2018). This dissertation
identifies the diatopic, diageneric and diagenerational reality of the speakers in relation to the
collected uses, aiming to characterize the ways in which the influences exerted mutually by the
speakers of the topostatic and topodynamic groups are carried out. In addition, it confronts the
uses made by them – according to what was recorded by Silva and collaborators – with the
dictionary expressions of the lexicons. Our objective is to describe the lexical-semantic
variation of the variants for the questions collected in the semantic field of food and cuisine, in
Tocantins. The work used the dialectological methodology already established by studies that
develop analyzes from ALiB and other subsequent linguistic atlases (YIDA, 2011; RIBEIRO,
2012; PORTILHO, 2013; SILVA, 2018; MENEZES, 2021): from the available corpus, We
proceeded to the collation, treatment and analysis, quantitative and qualitative, of the collected
items based on the theoretical framework adopted for reading and interpreting the data. Then,
using Geolinguistics instruments, the cartographic uses of the collected items were made and
mechanisms were provided for their reading and interpretation, refuting or confirming the initial
hypotheses. Thus, the work presents two complementary approaches, the first involving a phase
of quantitative and statistical data collection, the second constituting an analytical approach,
based on the conclusions of Silva (2018) and on the Pluridimensional Dialectology framework
of Thun (2010; 2005; 2000a; 2000b; 2000c; 1998; 1995; 1992). As a result of the research, it
was found that the items surveyed have a high dictionary record. The data highlight the lexia
abóbora and contradict the expectation that jerimum is the hegemonic variant in the northern
states of Brazil. Palmas also has significant data compared to other capitals, with emphasis on
pão, cortadinho [de abóbora] and pinga. As for the multidimensional dynamics, no significant
diageneric and diagenerational differences were found for lexical configurations and ways of
referring to culinary items in the State of Tocantins. On the other hand, what can be observed
from the areal and diatopic dynamics strengthens Silva's (2018) thesis that a dialect composed
of older items than those of the West band is spoken in the locations of the eastern band of
Tocantins. However, the data collected and analyzed in this work were not enough to prove our
hypothesis that in this state there are four subareas resulting from a segmentation of the “old”
and “contemporary” poles into “travelers” (subareas A1 and B1) and “pioneers” (subareas A2
and B2). It was concluded that, regarding the semantic field Food and Cooking, the Tocantins
vocabulary is statistically directed by migrant speakers, who are responsible for most of the
most used terms. |
