Objective: To analyze the development of gross motor coordination, from the PROESP-Br
and BPM test batteries, in preschool children, from a school in Tocantinópolis/TO/Brazil.
Methods: Cross-sectional quantitative research, carried out in a preschool in the city of
Tocantinópolis-TO. Test batteries Projeto Esporte Brasil (PROESP-Br) and Battery
Psychomotor (BPM) were used. The PROESP-BR test battery was used to evaluate the
variables: Body Mass Index (BMI), upper limb strength (FMS), lower limb strength (IMF)
and flexibility. BPM was used to assess the skills: Balance, lateralization and global praxis,
later classified into hyperpyrexic, eupraxic, dyspraxic and apraxic profiles. Results: The study
included 18 children with a mean age of five years (SD = 0.62). The mean lower limb
strength was 133 cm, 108 cm for upper limb strength and 72 cm for flexibility. By evaluating
the BPM, more than 50% of the children had a hyperpyrexic profile in the items immobility,
straight foot support, dynamic balance and pedal lateralization; Eupraxic profile in the items
oculopedal coordination, manual lateralization and ocular lateralization; Dyspraxic profile in
the items Hand-eye coordination, upper/lower limb dissociation and agility; And finally, the
apraxic profile was more prevalent in the static balance variable. Conclusion: The sample
showed adequate levels of gross motor coordination in some of the analyzed activities, but on
the other hand, the skills Hand eye coordination, upper/lower limb dissociation and agility
and static balance had negative results, indicating that these skills need to be developed. |
