Resumo:
Motor coordination is the ability of an individual to perform various movements articulated with skeletal muscles, allowing it to dominate their body and control their movements. In some cases, children when they are not stimulated correctly tend to have a motor quotient below the normal level expected for their age and sex. This study aims to analyze the levels of gross motor coordination of schoolchildren of both sexes, from nine to 11 years of age, enrolled in the 4th and 5th grades of elementary school, from two public schools in the municipality of Parintins-Amazonas. The research instruments were: 1) scale and stadiometer to measure BMI to characterize the sample; 2) the Body Coordination Test for Children (Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder - KTK). This research was carried out in four phases. In the first phase, the consent form was delivered to the schools so that we can have access to students and the space of the school environment for data collection. In the second phase, an envelope containing the authorization document was sent to the parents or guardians of the students, allowing or not their child to participate in the research. In the third phase, the weight and height of the students who were given permission to participate in this research were evaluated. And finally, in the fourth phase, the test (Körperkoordinationstest Für Kinder) -KTK was applied. The results showed that the school where the students presented the best performance in motor coordination was the one with the presence of the physical education teacher, in which the mean motor quotient was 99.14, while the average of the students in the school without the teacher was 81.43. Thus, we reinforce that the lack of this coordination can affect students and emphasize the importance of the physical education teacher in this stage of basic education.
