The present study aims to report the construction project of Trenzinho da Alegria, through the
recycling of oil drums, as a business initiative for the economic, social and environmental
development of Araguaína, Tocantins. The research used bibliographic research and a case
study. The construction of the Trenzinho da Alegria took place in the entrepreneur's own home,
through donations and purchases of used drums from companies in the region. The analysis of
the company's internal and external characteristics identified the project as a catalyst for
recycling initiatives in the region. As an opportunity, the expansion of the socially and
environmentally responsible market was identified, which aims to integrate society in its
diverse needs. On the other hand, a bureaucratic environment and difficult access to raw
materials represent a threat to the business. It can be said that this type of initiative has great
market potential, with large brands seeking to associate themselves with this type of
environmentally correct business, although the external environment still presents some
difficulties to be overcome, especially by small companies. and without sophisticated planning.
