Road transport operations play a significant role in the emission of polluting gases and,
increasingly, the monitoring and control of emissions gains importance in reducing negative
impacts, both on health and on the environment. This work aims to identify the ability to
mitigate carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions in road freight transport, resulting from measures
that reduce fuel consumption. We sought to estimate the reduction in emissions provided by
the adoption of technologies that increase the efficiency of vehicles, expressed by the
reduction of consumption of fossil fuels. For that, bibliographic research was conducted and a
questionnaire with open questions was applied, answered by an employee of a logistics
company in Araguaína, Tocantins. It was possible to observe that companies can reduce CO2
emissions using new vehicles, which have on-board technology, and more efficient
implements. In addition, the favoring of road infrastructure and the poor maintenance of roads
negatively impact the sustainability of transport, mainly because Brazil is a country with
continental dimensions. |
