Resumo:
This work aims to present a proposal for teaching Geometry using concrete material in two class of the Final Years of Elementary School, based on the investigation and manipulation of materials for the development of activities. The aim was to arouse the interest of students and encourage them to “conjecture” the mathematical properties of the contents of Triangles and Area of Notable Quadrilaterals, through their previous knowledge, preventing students from just memorizing resolution formulas. The empirical development was organized in two stages: in the first, we carried out activities on the triangles and, later, a Workshop with handling A4 paper, to find the area of the quadrilaterals. The proposal was applied to students of the 7th year of Elementary School of a State School of Araguaína in 2019. In view of the results obtained in the research, we found that classes using concrete material, when well planned, contribute to the learning of the content of Mathematics , arousing students' interest in activities and we verify that this practice is not present in mathematics classes of these classes. In addition, we consider that this experience was of great enrichment for the training of the researcher.
