The methodology includes bibliographical and documentary research. What is noticeable is that violence against women is not new or recent, but something as old as humanity itself. What's new is the fact that the concern with overcoming this violence as a necessary condition for the construction of human dignity. The result of this research shows that notification in the State of Tocantins and Araguaína city is something still early, but the distribution of the notifications, according to the available data show that awareness and coordination with the agencies should begin to have an effect on latest statistics. This study deals with a literature search of nature and descriptive. In conclusion, from the surveyed literature is believed that the discussion of this topic enables the understanding of the factors that trigger acts of violence, and the identification of support mechanisms. Este trabalho aborda o tema da violência contra a mulher e tem por objetivo estudar e analisar as incidências de violência contra a mulher na cidade de Araguaína – TO (2014-2015), bem como o que se tem feito para ajudar essas vítimas. A metodologia adotada engloba pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. O que se percebe é que a violência contra a mulher não é algo novo ou recente, mas sim algo tão antigo quanto à própria humanidade. O que há de novo é o fato da preocupação com a superação dessa violência como condição necessária para a construção da dignidade humana. O resultado desta pesquisa aponta que a notificação no Estado do Tocantins e na cidade de Araguaína é algo ainda não muito divulgado, mas a distribuição das notificações, conforme os dados disponíveis demonstram que a sensibilização e a articulação com dos órgãos deverá começar a ter efeito sobre as estatísticas mais recentes. Este estudo trata-se de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, de natureza e caráter descritivo.
