The judiciary system must undergo technological progress under penalty of becoming obsolete in an increasingly digital society. Thus, Justice Agencies have invested in the modernization of their systems and at the birthing of digital channels, to provide superior speed to the process and greater ease for users. However, access to digital technologies in a country like Brazil, full of social and economic inequality, is not uniform and universal. This article addresses access to Justice considering the difficulties arising from functional illiteracy and digital exclusion in the face of the growing use of digital technologies. Beyond theoretical conceptual research through bibliography and publications by different authors, the introduction of the DPU Cidadão app was analyzed in the services performed at the Public Defender of the Union in Palmas - Tocantins unit in 2021. Through this study, it was possible to identify the focal points of difficulty in the use of digital channels by those assisted by the DPU, among them the precariousness of access to the internet. Access to justice ought to be modernized because it does not deviate from the principles of equality and accessibility of jurisdictional services to all |
