Thus, Justice Agencies have invested in the modernization of their systems and at the birthing of digital channels, to provide superior speed to the process and greater ease for users. However, access to digital technologies in a country like Brazil, full of social and economic inequality, is not uniform and universal. This article addresses access to Justice considering the difficulties arising from functional illiteracy and digital exclusion in the face of the growing use of digital technologies. Beyond theoretical conceptual research through bibliography and publications by different authors, the introduction of the DPU Cidadão app was analyzed in the services performed at the Public Defender of the Union in Palmas - Tocantins unit in 2021. Through this study, it was possible to identify the focal points of difficulty in the use of digital channels by those assisted by the DPU, among them the precariousness of access to the internet. Access to justice ought to be modernized because it does not deviate from the principles of equality and accessibility of jurisdictional services to all O sistema judiciário deve passar pelo progresso tecnológico sob pena de tornar-se obsoleto em uma sociedade cada vez mais digital. Assim, os órgãos da justiça têm investido na modernização de seus sistemas e na criação de canais digitais, a fim de proporcionar maior celeridade ao processo e maior facilidade aos usuários. Entretanto, o acesso às tecnologias digitais em um país como o Brasil, repleto de desigualdade social e econômica, não é uniforme e universal. Este artigo aborda o acesso à justiça à luz das dificuldades surgidas do analfabetismo funcional e da exclusão digital frente a crescente utilização de tecnologias digitais. Além da pesquisa conceitual teórica por meio de bibliografia e publicações de diferentes autores, foi analisada a introdução do aplicativo DPU Cidadão nos atendimentos realizados na Defensoria Pública da União no Tocantins, na unidade de Palmas/TO, em 2021.Por meio deste estudo foi possível identificar os pontos focais de dificuldade no uso de canais digitais pelos assistidos da DPU, dentre eles a precariedade de acesso à internet.
