This work aimed to analyze and discuss the narratives of Physical Education teachers regarding their experiences in teaching basketball as a Physical Education content. Characterized as an exploratory qualitative research. We used a semi-structured interview as an instrument for data collection. Three teachers with training in Physical Education who work in the municipal and state education network of Miracema do Tocantins were interviewed. The interview presented six questions through which the teachers guided their narratives and practical experiences with the modality. In this way, the study identified that the basketball content is one of the sports modalities worked on in the educational practices of the teachers, however, there is a predominance of the practice of the futsal modality to the detriment of the other modalities in the school scope, making the proposition of other sports and/or body practices an even greater challenge in the teachers' conception. The three teachers stated that they had full support from the school management in offering the body practices established by the BNCC, a document by which they guide their planning. From the narratives and field research, we understand that of the three schools, two offer favorable conditions for teaching basketball with physical space (sports court) and appropriate materials and/or implements (basketballs, apts, cones). Finally, we hope that this work proposal can help new research related to the theme, as we identified a lack of literary productions that deal with basketball as a content of Physical Education at school.
