Resumo:
This thesis aims to analyze the disparities in the process of regional development through the analysis of spatial autocorrelation in the municipalities of the Centro Norte of Brazil. In the first section, bibliographical research was carried out based on the assumptions of the regional analysis. This party took into consideration Christaller’s Central Place Theory as well as Douglas North’s Economic Base Theory. The second section consists of identifying the productive dynamics of towns in Centro Norte of Brazil and having regard to the situation of staff employed in eight branches of economic activity, which enabled the exploratory analysis to be conducted. Secondary data was collected from the Ministry of Labor and Employment on the platform of the Annual Social Information Report and the FIRJAM System. The final result will be useful for the elaboration of public policies directed toward endogenous development. Moreover, income concentrations were identified in certain local clusters. Municipalities such as Parauapebas (PA) and Canaã dos Carajás (PA) were important in the consolidation of the mining cluster. The town of Tocantins demonstrated better performance in IFDM health, forming a cluster of positive values. In 2016, it was observed that among the largest soybean producers in the Centro Norte were São Félix do Araguaia (MT), São Desidério (BA) and Formosa do Rio Preto (BA). Furthermore, to a lesser extent, Correntina (BA) and Barreiras (BA), followed by Tasso Fragoso (MA) and Balsas (MA) and São José do Xingu (MT) and Bom Jesus do Araguaia (MT). Although the towns of Mato Grosso stand out in soybean production, they did not form a cluster (of high values) in GDP per capita or IFMD. The regionalization of the Centro Norte was carried out using the results of the research. Five sub- regions were identified, each with its own characteristics and a city pole. There are two sub- regions with high GDP values, and expressive QL, the sub-region of Mining, with Parauapebas (PA) as the main city, and the sub-region of agriculture, led by São Desidério (BA). For future studies, it is suggested that the integration of municipalities within the sub-regions and the economic relationship of the sub-regions with the capital of the state in which they are located be investigated.
