Resumo:
Brazil is recognized for its social and regional inequalities, and this promotes inequalities in access to health services, especially in tertiary care, which demands highly complex assistance in a set of highly specialized therapies and procedures. Social and economic determinants influence the survival of a population, therefore, based on state and national public data and epistemological references, economic and social aspects have an influence on access to hospital admission services and patient outcomes. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the impacts of economic, social and regional determinants on the demand for hospitalizations and mortality in public ICUs in Tocantins, outlining the components related to the IFDM from the 2005 to 2016 series of municipalities in Tocantins, allocating their weighted averages to each region. health and data on local economic and social conditions, including the Gini index, per capita income, water supply, population in extreme poverty and the presence of sewage systems. To analyze the impact of economic and social variables collected on the demand for clinical, surgical and ICU beds, hospital data for the same period of the IFDM historical series were analyzed, that is, from 2005 to 2016, taking into account only hospitalizations of individuals residing in Tocantins. The results found demonstrated problems related to the access of more vulnerable groups to health services and the influence of regional economic and social markers on demand and mortality in ICUs.
