In Brazil, the Family Health Strategy (ESF) configures the main care model of
Primary Health Care (PHC), with Family and Community Medicine (FCM) considered
the gold standard specialty in the training of physicians to assist people, family and
community. In this sense, the Federal Government has encouraged this movement, in
order to primarily meet the needs of PHC. The Escola de Saúde Pública de Palmas-
TO Foundation (FESP) has been implementing a FCM Residency Program since 2014.
This work aims to evaluate the degree of empathy and self-compassion in Family
Medicine graduates and residents of a Family and Community Medicine Residency
Program in Palmas. This is a field survey, in which questionnaires were applied to
graduates and resident physicians (MR) of a FCM Program in Palmas, in July 2022,
and demonstrated the following profile: predominance of women with 73.1%; balance
between single and married marital status; majority of respondents practicing the
medical profession for more than 05 years (60.6%); 98.2% Brazilian; the majority of
graduates, 76.0%, with a mean age of 33.2 years; and finally, most of the respondents
were empathetic and self-compassionate. |
