Resumo:
Beef is among one of the main agricultural commodities traded internationally. Brazil holds prominence in this sector because of its extensive participation in beef exports. To meet its large demand, both nationally and internationally, the country needs to divide production by states, so the states with greater free area for pasture creation have their most aggressive participation in the market, as is the case of Tocantins. Since its creation, the state has produced beef to heat the economy. Thus, the state has been constituting its space progressively in the export category. This work aims to present the trajectory of livestock in the state of Tocantins from the birth of the state in 1988 to the year 2020, with the purpose of tracing the export data of the state and presenting the barriers that hinder the export of beef and makes the rise of Tocantins as an export reference in the international beef market more difficult and lengthier. For this study, export data from the Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services (MDIC) and the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) will be analyzed, in addition to exploring academic studies by other authors that carry relevance within the area.
