Environmental education has been widely discussed today, major global conferences are held to discuss the future of our ecosystem, Conference such as Stockholm was a major milestone in history, with the objective of implementing measures to preserve the environment. Currently, COP 26 was discussed in Glasgow, Scotland, where it brought together leaders to debate the problems caused in nature, due to human action through the misuse and excessive use of natural resources, and the emissions of carbon gas into the atmosphere. With data collection on the damages caused to the environment, this conference aimed at assertive goals to be fulfilled by the countries. Starting from the first World Conferences, Environmental Education in Brazil gained strength in 1973 by conservationist movements, movements that occurred through the action of teachers, students and civil society, proclaimed for democratic freedom and actions that were aimed at protecting and preserving nature. Thus, Environmental Education has become a fundamental right for society, and must be developed in a political and pedagogical manner. This article aims to analyze the approaches within the school environment, through practical measures that contribute to the construction of critical and reflective thinking about environmental awareness. In a descriptive way, this article will discuss the main milestones of environmental history in the school context, starting from the conferences, the Laws implemented in the Constitution, such as Law 9.795/1999, which institutes environmental education in all student spheres. Finally, the main approaches of teaching work with the theme.
